Self-Guided Field Trips
During this 90-minute experience, children are encouraged to explore all of our exhibits at their own pace. The exhibits have been designed to meet the developmental needs of children from birth to age 8 and are aligned to Wisconsin Academic Standards, as well as the Wisconsin Early Model Learning Standards.

Focused Field Trip: Rainbow Geometry
During this 90-minute experience, children will spend 30 minutes in a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator, followed by 45 minutes of free exploration of our interactive exhibits.
Students will begin with free exploration time to develop their own findings surrounding 3D shapes and color mixing. This exploration time will be followed up with open ended questions to engage the students' minds and reinforce their findings.

Focused Field Trip: Sensory Science
During this 90-minute experience, children will spend 30 minutes in a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator, followed by 45 minutes of free exploration of our interactive exhibits.
Young scientists will use their five senses to conduct simple experiments and make observations. Students will finish the workshop with a fun take-home experiment.

Focused Field Trip: What's with the Weather?
During this 90-minute experience, children will spend 30 minutes in a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator, followed by 45 minutes of free exploration of our interactive exhibits.
Where does water come from? How do clouds form, and why does water evaporate? Students will discuss answers to these questions and create their own "Rainstorm in a Jar".

Focused Field Trip: Take Flight
During this 90-minute experience, children will spend 30 minutes in a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator, followed by 45 minutes of free exploration of our interactive exhibits.
Students will explore the forces of gravity through the creation of a flying object. We will wrap up this workshop with students testing their flying object in the wind tube exhibit, located on the first floor of the museum.

Focused Field Trip: Robotic Hand
During this 90-minute experience, children will spend 45 minutes in a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator, followed by 30 minutes of free exploration of our interactive exhibits.
Students will explore the way tendons are aligned, how to cause fingers to twitch and curl, as well as explore the amazing things our hands are capable of doing through the creation of a Robotic Hand. Students will leave with an ASL alphabet chart to practice at home with their hand creation.
