Above & Beyond Children's Museum Hosts Annual Tastefully Childish Fundraiser on September 22

Evening Fundraiser is a Culinary Showcase of Sheboygan County’s Food and Beverage Specialists and Museum’s Exhibits, Programming and Future Projects

SHEBOYGAN, Wis.  (September 5, 2018) - Above & Beyond Children's Museum hosts 3rd annual fundraiser Tastefully Childish, a “Night at the Museum”-style event, on Saturday, September 29 from 6-10pm. The museum comes to life as 150 guests delight in interactive exhibits, hands-on activities and festive music while attendees explore experiential food and beverage stations hosted by local restaurants, wineries and breweries. Food pairings are curated by area chefs featuring childhood food favorites with a mature culinary twist.

“The format and setting of Tastefully Childish is unlike any other charity event,” said Lynda Torke, President of the Board and Torke Coffee Roasting Co. “The museum showcases its time-honored exhibits and new offerings including the new Festival Foods Fresh Market to attendees while they discover inspired culinary stations throughout the interactive spaces.”

Participating food and beverage partners at the 2018 Tastefully Childish event include
3 Sheeps Brewing Company, 8th Street Ale Haus, Black Pig, Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center, Destination Kohler, Meals On Wheels, Menchies Frozen Yogurt, Nourish, Sheboygan Beer Company, Sheboygan Senior Community, Solu Estates Winery & Meadery, and Torke Coffee Roasting Co.

Special thanks to event partners GT Graphics and Design by Jen Hudak.

Food stations are creatively situated throughout the museum’s interactive exhibits to encourage attendees to let out their inner child while enjoying unique culinary offerings from various chef-talents of Sheboygan County. Event pairings will be announced leading up to the event, two examples are as follows:

Mac & Cheese Waffle with Amber Ale
Destination Kohler chefs will be featuring a playful twist on macaroni and cheese at this year's Tastefully Childish. Chefs Paul Smitala, Matt Bauer and Tom McGinty will be showcasing a Mac & Cheese Waffle with sweet bacon and tomato jam topped with a dollop of chive crème fresh. Brewmaster Grant Pauly of 3 Sheeps Brewing Company suggests pairing this delightful dish with Rebel Kent.

“The jam will blend nicely with the light Belgian fruit esters of this Amber Ale and the chive creme fresh will balance against the subtle rye notes. And, it's good with cheese.” Pauly says.

S’more Tart with Nitro Brew Coffee
Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center Executive Chef Loren Rue transforms a traditional s’more into a masterpiece. The s’more tart features a Nutella-toffee ganache, toasted hazelnut marshmallow meringue and a graham cracker crust. This dessert will pair expertly with Torke Nitro Brew Coffee. There will be no shortage of sweets to balance the savory.

Guests will sip and sample throughout the evening at additional food and drink stations as Nourish will serve farm fresh vegetables in the new Festival Foods Fresh Market and Glow-in-the-Dark Cocktails will be mixed in the Glow Room.

A highlighted area for this year’s event will be the Toddler Room exhibit space. Guests will enjoy activities in this area before it begins a dramatic transformation to become the Melitta S. and Joan M. Pick Toddler Barnyard. The new exhibit on the second floor will feature a multi-level barn play-structure and slide, toys that encourage development of children ages 0-4 in the areas of gross motor, fine motor, and cognitive skills, a private nursing area, and a remodeled family bathroom.

Tickets are available for purchase for $75 (non-members), $60 (members and donors) or 10 tickets for $600. Attendees must be at least 21 years old to attend. Limited tickets available. Purchase Tickets Online here https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3375880
